A man who spiked treats with sedative and provided them to children at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offences against two children both nine and ten years old.
The accused was taken into custody after eight youngsters and an older person fell ill at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Yet, he denied one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was against a young boy.
The accused was kept in jail before a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, detailed the defendant's actions to the court.
She said his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a youth camp which he managed.
Ruben conducted a "sweet game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor stated, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and tell them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She stated to the judge the defendant had played this game with the children "for many years", and youngsters had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had worries in recently.
The legal representative stated further: "This year his family member had suspicions about what was going on, justifiably.
"They decided to investigate in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC said items including lubricant, petroleum jelly and medical needles were discovered, and his stepchild contacted the police about his concerns.
She explained the man continued to conduct the "sweet game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she added.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, previously told that it was examining the police response of the events.
The legal representative said the children were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the family member notified the police once more.
She said the defendant then engaged in the "sweet game" in a room of five youngsters.
