Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a swastika, they reported.
Officers then located multiple other smeared automobiles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Officials state preliminary tests indicate the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its origin; officials are presently not aware of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were attempting "to solve the case" and have requested to the public for details.
A high-ranking representative commented the vandalism left him speechless and required to be resolved rapidly.
"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of foreign heritage in February 2020.
